The Iron Phi and Live Like Lou Foundations work hand and hand with in Phi Delta Theta
Read about both of them below
About Iron Phi
Iron Phi is a nationwide initiative that empowers members and friends of Phi Delta Theta to strengthen the Fraternity and honor its impact on the fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). Inspired by Brother Lou Gehrig—nicknamed the “Iron Horse” for his perseverance and strength—participants take on personal athletic challenges and raise at least $1,000 to support ALS research and Phi Delta Theta’s leadership programs.
This movement builds a lasting legacy of philanthropy, resilience, and brotherhood. Whether you’re an undergraduate, alumnus, or supporter of the cause, anyone can become an Iron Phi and help Leave ALS Better Than You Found It.
Mission:
To strengthen the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity and its impact on the fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease through the fundraising and athletic efforts of its people.
About Live Like Lou Foundation
The Live Like Lou Foundation honors the legacy of Lou Gehrig by supporting families impacted by ALS and funding research to find a cure. Established in partnership with Phi Delta Theta, the foundation is a leading voice in the ALS community—providing care, hope, and meaningful progress toward ending the disease.
Named after Gehrig’s iconic farewell—“I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth”—Live Like Lou embodies strength, gratitude, and the drive to live fully despite life’s challenges.
Mission:
To empower families living with ALS, fund cutting-edge research for a cure, and inspire communities to live courageously—just like Lou.
